Thoughts on Fiber One – 90 Calories

My youngest son was telling me about the Fiber One 90 calorie bars the other day.  He said he eats them on his way to work.  He  highly recommended the chocolate, caramel & pretzel variety, claiming it was as good as a Snickers candy bar.  Well THAT got my attention.  A ninety calorie Snickers bar? Gotta try it!

So yesterday, I bought a couple of boxes of Fiber One Bars.  I hadn’t yet had lunch and the fermented peach yogurt I’d had for breakfast was still on my mind. and taste buds I opened the box as soon as I got in the car, unwrapped the new delight with great expectations, and guess what?  It was delicious!  I called my sister and told her about this heavenly 90 calorie treat.  I think I even sent her a picture of the box, as she was in route to the grocery store.

I spoke with my sister a few minutes ago.  She said, “Fiber One?” me, “Yes”.  Her ~ “They taste like cardboard! And they were $3.99 a box.”  I was certain she had picked up the wrong kind.  “Pretzels? Chocolate? Caramel?” “Yes”.  Well, Bummer.

I just left my pantry and pulled out another bar for lunch.  It now taste like cardboard.  Thanks, Renae.  You are also the reason I quit eating the fat off of the liverwurst when I was three.  Hmmmm?  Maybe I should listen to my sister?   🙂 the power of suggestion

p.s.  Don’t tell hubby.  I convinced him this morning that they taste like candy bars.  😉

Oh man, you had me going there…I’m doing Jenny Craig – with great reluctance and boredom because my cardiologist scared the you-know-what out of me. The thought of a 90 calorie snickers bar sounded SOOO good!!

  2. renae says:

LOL….sorry about that! I think my tastebuds were expecting a snickers bar and that would be a far stretch for me… perhaps the description of cardboard is a stretch also…..I’m going to give them another try. Why? Because there are four more in the box!!

  3. hastywords says:

I haven’t had a snickers in FOREVER and they were my favorite. I am sure I would love them!

  4. Grace says:

Your sister really does have a strong influence on you.

I like fiber one, but they do taste like cardboard after awhile. 🙂

  5. Jeannette Wynne says:

One man’s candy bar….oh my…nothing, I say nothing, tastes like a Snickers bar except Snickers!! Once in awhile ya just gotta have one:)

  6. Now if you can get your sister to convince me that a snickers bar taste like cardboard I’ll love her forever! : )

  7. marvin says:

I feel duped!! And I have 2 boxes to finish off! I think I will need a Snicker chaser!!

  8. Your sister’s right… but on the plus side, it’s cardboard with a bit of chocolate drizzled on it… I eat them because I need to get more fibre in my diet and it (allegedly) counts toward 35% of your recommended daily value…

  9. Your post, and the comments are hilarious today! I have to admit, I read this earlier, on my phone, just after a run and I was laughing out loud! To each her own…I am a fan/addict of Luna Bars..and not quite 90 calories, I am pretty sure they don’t taste like cardboard. At least not to me. And, I think my sister agrees 🙂 Thanks for the laugh and the 🙂 today!!

I tried them once and thought “Oh yum! Cardboard…” Think I’ll stick to making my own then I throw in the things I do love like raisin’s and cranberries 🙂

  11. Oh you sisters kill me! I bet you drove your mom crazy. I always keep a REAL Snicker’s Bar hidden in the refrigerator for days when my world is off kilter. I just decided to go ahead and eat it today, in honor of you and Renae….yum, yum…no it sure doesn’t taste a bit like cardboard. xxoo

    • Haha….I think we still drive our mom crazy! Especially, Renae. She was the problem child. 🙂 I couldn’t keep on hidden, Delores. I would just eat it! Eat and enjoy, girl! Every. Last. Bite. ♥

  12. Carrie Rubin says:

This made me laugh out loud, because the first time I ate a Fiber One bar I thought it was great, just like you. And then I had another. And another. Suffice it to say, I no longer eat them. Not so tasty, after all. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by my blog. 🙂
