John Denver’s voice is in my mind singing his song that has the same title you chose for today. I also think of carefree, relaxed, free, and restorative. There is also a quiet, introspective almost lonely feel about the image. One place can be many, perhaps, depending on who is traveling that road….
I love your reflections, Bonnie. This road runs in front of several Amish farms in NE Oklahoma….for us it was like stepping back in time. And we liked being there …
I love the Amish country, we would visit the Lancaster County area in PA and you are right, it was like stepping back in time, and we loved those days too….you captured it perfectly!
With the title of the post being ‘Country Roads’ I’m thinking… Country roads, take me home, to the place, I belong, West Virginia…
Great -now I’ll be singing that song all day 🙂
Open Road Bryan Adams (for obvious reasons) Lost Highway Bon Jovi (because you cannot drive along a stretch of road without listening to at least one Bon Jovi song) and End of the Innocence Don Henley (because I always have this idea of leaving town and getting away when this song is played and driving across a country road could be reminiscent of leaving a country town).
I actually went with Clint to show a house near Luther; we came home down Route 66. I haven’t gotten around to posting those pics yet! Love this image.
We don’t get much of that here. We’re not that close to the mountains. We are about 40 minutes away from the Sequoia National Forest. About 2/3 of our county IS National Forest!
Words which come to my mind include: journey, hope, adventure, peace.
perfect!

My sis lived in PA for a while. We loved Lancaster County! My boys were little guys then….oh the memories…..♥
It certainly looks like it will lead to adventure…
I guess all roads can do that! 🙂
The long and winding road…
leads to your door….
🙂

Sorry to implant that in your mind!! lol! Any consolation knowing it’s stuck in my head, too? 🙂
a little, yeah 🙂
It reminds me of Robert Duvell in “Tender Mercies” and the song “On the wings of a snow white dove..”. Great movie!!
awesome ~
“Almost Heaven, West Virginia” comes to mind.
♥
I love a good relaxing Sunday drive!! 🙂
oh me, too!
Even before I read your question, this came to my mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jC-pkV1s0Zc
Jackson Browne…..love it! (now I’m jammin’! ♫ ♪ ) ty! 🙂
(smiling) I loved that album when I was a teenager.

great pic……so peaceful, and great songs everyone came up with……carefree highway……
I know! I thought of your recent “street”!
On our road trip down to Stanford, we sang along with John Denver as he sang “Country Roads.” Fun post, Paula! Lovely photos.
Isn’t singing in the car just the best. No one can escape! lol! thanks, Naomi….hope your kiddo is adjusting well! (and mom) 🙂
Definitely “Country Roads”. We live on a country road, but your picture looks even more country than ours. fun post
country roads are awesome….unless you are iced or snowed in!!! 🙂

It must be beautiful! (with lots of critters, too!?)
It’s the talk of the street today. We had a mountain lion cub behind our house yesterday. My husband also spotted some kit foxes.
awwww…..awesome!
