Keep the Old

feb take27Make new friends, Keep the old
One is Silver and the other Gold ♥

When I was little, I was a Girl Scout Brownie for a short time.  I assumed we would get to eat brownies at every meeting.  Never happened.  But I did learn a million and one songs that I still recall.

The above verse is from one of those songs imprinted in my brain.  And as we left my parents’ home the other day, this is the song I kept hearing.  We were headed to meet dear friends that we had not seen for about thirteen years.

We arrived at Pop’s within minutes of each other, waving each other down in the parking lot.  Isn’t it funny how some things stay the same?  Like the cheery smiles and warm embraces.  Easy conversation.  Catching up on life.  Trying to figure out where time went and how on earth it took so long to meet again.  Understanding that life takes us in different directions.  Promising to never let that much time lapse again between visits.  Leaving feeling better for having know them.

Gold…..definately gold. ♥

  1. Beautiful moon photo! I tried unsuccessfully to take one of the moon last night. Couldn’t get it set up right so I appreciate this one.

  2. Now I’ll be singing that song all day. I was a Girl Scout too. Trouble is I can’t sing a “round” by myself 🙂

Lovely to meet up with old friends… Linda and I took a wrong road and decided to stop at a coffee shop for a bit of refreshment.. lo and behold, I recognised a man sitting there having a meeting with someone else.. a friend I have not seen in 45 years.. we shared a study at school.. hasn’t changed, just like me.. just got older and has less hair.. just like me…

    • Your HaPPy BiRtHdAy world, Bon-Bon? That shouldn’t be! Hubby has been off this week…so we have enjoyed playing and getting some stuff on “the list” accomplished. That list seems to be ever growing, btw…. ♥

  7. Lovely words and great photos. The moon has been so beautiful, all over the world…I tried to take pictures of it in the dark, but they came out blurry. Yours came out good!

I have those golden friends, too. Time seems to have stood still as the conversations take up where they left off. And now I have blogging ones…

  9. I think I miss Oklahoma LOL I know people knock it… but it will always be my first home in the US…
