We’ve been unplugged for a couple of days. A lightning strike next door sent rumbles through the lines of the neighborhood it seems. Our little cul-de-sac was filled with repair people all day yesterday. Ours was here for around four hours. I guess he really liked us!?
Last night, while we still had several AT&T folks in our hood…..it became a little block party, as it so often does. Cool weather, kids playing, neighbors catching up…..all under the umbrella of a beautiful sunset.
Since fall is upon us, a sweet friend and follower gave me permission to share her mom’s fabulous recipe for Pumpkin Bread. If you do share this…..be sure and remind them it’s a secret. 🙂

Thanks for the pumpkin bread recipe. What are those silver poles in the yard in front of the AT&T truck? Just curious.
I actually snapped the pic through our front glass door. You are seeing the etching….but now that you mention it….they DO look like silver poles!!!

Your neighbors was lucky too .. it could gone really bad. It happen with my first PC while living in Belfast, killed my motherboard – the lighting went down in the neighborhood and a young boy burned him quite bad while being on the phone. As you said .. we just never know.
Hubby had unplugged our laptops on this day as storms were expected “later” in the day. Yes….everyone is fine. But burn marks behind cords are freakish!
I know they tell us here to stay away from windows…don’t be outside….don’t be on the phone or near plumbing. I guess you are just to stand in the middle of the largest room and wait?!?! 🙂 But on this particular day….it was simply an unexpected “burst”.
That poor little guy! That is awful!
I trun PC off … but the netbook is not connect to something, but maybe I should turn that off too. And the router – forgotten that one. The rest I leave up to faith … but I wouldn’t stand under a tree during thunder *smile

VERY close. When it hit I was in the car leaving and thought it had hit the car….it was THAT loud. Just a random pop-up storm.

We rarely have thunder or lightening storms where I live. But when we do, I do not like them:( I grew up with them in the Midwest, but as a kid they didn’t bother me. Not so anymore. Now my friend Delores (AZ Delores) LOVES them! I’m so happy for her:)

Milnot is a brand of evaporated milk. Around here it is kinda like saying “Do you want a coke?” Which means any carbonated beverage. Not just a Coca Cola product. GREAT question! Thanks!

Hmmmm….I wonder if milnot (canned evaporated milk) and eaglebrand (sweetened evaporated milk) are southern “thangs”? It’s all I’ve ever heard! 🙂 I am guessing Darla W has an awesome Pumpkin Bread recipe as well!!! 🙂
I tried the pumpkin bread this past weekend. I substituted evaporated milk for the Milnot and self-rising flour for all purpose. It looked like a lot of batter so I put it in 3 loaf pans BUT it didn’t rise. Matter of fact, all that batter sunk to a 1″ loaf on all three. I know know to fill the loaf pans to the brim to maybe get a full-sized loaf. It tastes good, tho.
Well I’m glad it still tasted good. Glad you tried it and appreciate your tips for when I make it! A baker I am not. 😦
