A Mama’s Hope

Taken In Ireland by my sister, Renae ~

Taken In Ireland by my sister, Renae ~

Good Friday.  I really never understood why it was called “good”.  I’ve read the account repeatedly.  I could understand Easter being called “Good Sunday”.  But Friday was a horrific day for Jesus.  For those that loved Him.  For His mama.

When I ponder on the heartache I have held for my own children, I cannot begin to  imagine Mary’s.  Illness.  Struggles. Disappointment.  Mistakes.  A mama wants to fix these things for her children, no matter their age.  The hardest place is when you come to the realization that you have no power to change a circumstance.  Were the many prayers sent up for this child all in vain?

And then I reflect upon Mary.  She had no power.  No prayer left.  Her heart exposed.  I cannot help but wonder, when her eyes met His eyes that day, did she know?  Did she know through the tears, the blood, and His broken body, that He would save the world?  Did that tiny speck of hope still lie somewhere deep within her aching soul?

She was a mama.  Mama’s always have hope for their babies.   And somehow, I think she knew….

Sunday’s on its way. ♥

(In reflecting on Good Friday, I was taken back to this post that I wrote last year, and decided to repost it.  When I relate my feelings for my own children to even a smidge of what Mary might have gone through…..it brings it home….it makes it real.  I needed to make it real.  ♥)

One More Peep

Here is one more thing you can do with PEEPS!

peeped

“Treat” your friends or neighbors…..

Our neighbors that lived behind us were “peeped” last year. And now they have moved, just before Easter! Probably a coincidence…. I wish someone would do our yard in Laffy Taffy!!!   😉

Happy Day!

Fighting Peeps!

I posted this last year around this time….thought I’d share again for a little FuN idea.  Throw some peeps in your shopping cart this week!

How do you entertain your “Peeps” for Easter, after the lunch and after the Easter egg hunt?  Well here are some pics of what our boys always did.  (Mad, Chi and Caleb ~ Caleb being our son’s best friend, therefore….our son also!)  Hubby and I reenacted it last night.  It’s just funny.  But more fun when the boys are here!

Place on microwave plate and arm each with a sword.  We colored them with felt tip marker.  I’m the green one!

Place in microwave and push 30 seconds.  Let the games begin!

Oh….I think I’m winning!

LOL….Speaking of that warped sense of humor ~

Green toothpick on top….Horray!  I did win! 😉

HaPPy Day, my peeps ♥

And Now FOUR Years Ago Today….

I had hoped this day would slip by without a thought of four years ago.  But then I had a dream nightmare two nights ago.  A little reminder that it’s still in my brain.  My post from last year better explains it.  Three Years Ago Today.

As I write this, I’m still not so sure I should be posting it.  Once it’s “out there”, if there was ever a thought of our normalcy, it’s about to be forever gone.  Here goes…..

After my car accident, surgery was required on my knee.  It was minor and outpatient, but still not something I would want to repeat.   Our kids lived a couple of hours away and were concerned.  My youngest called and asked that we send a picture. He had experienced the same surgery and knew what to expect.  If you’ve ever had a torn meniscus, you know there is no “picture”.  No scars to show off once it heals.  Boring.

But we were bored that evening…sooooo, with hubby on board, we had a little fun.   Add a little eyeliner and catsup and our cell phone photos became much more interesting.  So did the reaction.

The GOOD knee

The last picture, sent a few minutes later, told the tale.  And in case you were curious….it was my “good” knee that we adjusted.knee1

The kids eventually spoke to us again.  But for a moment, my son was about to get a certain surgeon on the line!  I love that he loves me that much.  Still.

Now for my disclaimer…..I love our pups, but I do not normally let them lick me.  Meds may have been a factor!  😉  Have a super weekend.  Laugh with someone today.  I think it truly is the best medicine!  ♥

While on the subject of automobile accidents.  I know that when a person “witnesses” an accident, it can turn into a huge undertaking for them.  But I have been in two accidents and both times, if not for the gracious witnesses, my ordeals would have been much more difficult.  If you witness it, stay and talk to the officers if at all possible. You would want the same if the tables were turned.

E-Reader or “Real” ?

We’ve had this discussion before.  In some instances, I prefer my Kindle, but I don’t think I will ever give up my devotion to holding a real book.  My sister sent me the following video link that addresses this very issue.  It only takes 39 seconds, so see what you think.  😉

Something Funny in my Brownie ~ a reblog

Your never know what might be in your brownie! Read more from my friend, Lorri…. 😉

artsifrtsy's avatarthe eff stop

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about my family’s history with cameras. Paula from Stuff I Tell My Sister, commented and told me she wanted to send me an old Brownie camera for my collection. A few days later this baby arrived – it was a bit dusty, but in great shape.

As I turned the knobs I heard the distinctive sound of film advancing inside the camera! I have been shooting some film this year so I carefully removed it from the camera. I emailed Paula and told her there was film, thinking this could be an old family camera – she told me that it was a flea market find and had no idea of what could be on the roll.

The label said Verachrome 620 – it was wider than my 120 Rollei film.  I dropped it off that weekend with a roll of…

Beware the Ides of March

A post from last year that I will share again….. “Beware the Ides of March”! Happy March 15! paula ♥

stuffitellmysister's avatarstuff i tell my sister

Welcome to “The Ides of March”!  Since studying William Shakespeare’s tragic play in highschool, this has been a revered day for me.  I don’t know why, it just stuck in my brain.  The word “Ides” in Latin, simply means middle.  So that’s what the Ides of March refers to, March 15 ~ today!

I turned to www.wikipedia.org  to refresh my memory on some details of the event.        Caesar was said to have been brutally murdered on this day in 44 B.C.  He was stabbed to death in a Roman Senate led by Marcus Brutus Junius.  That’s the sad part, Julius Caesar never saw it coming.  He trusted Brutus.  But Brutus was drawn in, some say by fear, to a conspiracy against Caesar.  Julius Caesar was cautioned by his soothsayer, but he ignored him.  And this lead to one of  the most famous lines in Shakespeare’s play, “Beware the Ides…
