Do you ever watch Dr. Oz? I don’t watch it as often as I’d like (my son says it scares him….Dr. Oz makes him think he has some strange disease…lol), but a couple of days ago there was an episode on that caught my interest. A young lady named Kim Lyon shared her Ten Day Plan to Trim Fat. What I reaped from this “plan” was step one, Kim’s recipe for Fat Flush Water. The ingredients are simple and inexpensive, it is healthy AND it’s tasty!
So for those of you who may have missed it, here goes:
1 slice of grapefruit (too much grapefruit adds a bit of bitter taste to the water….I learned!)
a tangerine (sliced)
1/2 sliced cucumber
2 peppermint leaves
water
That’s it! Place in a pitcher and chill or serve over ice. Here is Kim’s breakdown of what this can do for you: Grapefruit ~ Vitamin C which turns fat to fuel; Tangerine ~ increases your sensitivity to insulin, stabilizes blood sugar and stimulates genes to burn fat. Cucumber ~ helps you feel full and acts as a diuretic, which means less bloating and water retention. Peppermint ~ promotes better digestion and calms the stomach.
Kim suggests making a pitcher each morning and drinking an 8 ounce glass three times a day before each meal. Do this for ten days straight, if you are doing the ten-day program. She also said though, since it’s good, you can just drink it to drink it!
Personally, I like it. I cannot testify to the benefits yet, but it is filling and tasty. It is also “hubby” approved. So let me know if you try it~ and I hope you find some “good” in your Thursday! ♥
Hi Paula, this sounds good, and I’m going to try it! I’ll let you know how it goes.
Am drinking some right now! I like it! Do let me know! 😉
I will definitely try this.
I bought a juicer about a year ago and make juice EVERY morning for breakfast, (five fruits and five veggies).
It fills me up and I haven’t had a cold all winter 🙂
What dedication! Good for you! We take probiotics daily and I really think that has kept us from colds and illness. I don’t do so well with my daily veggies…I may have to try your tip!
I try to juice twice a week…lately not so much as this is crazy crunch time in the school music world…but weird thing…on juicing days I am cold cold cold all day long…look forward to trying water when school is out and I have a minute or 2…(2 more Mondays, Paula…in case you’re counting!)
I was actually gonna post that on your wall and ask you how many!! The water is easy and so good. I really need to try the jucie. But the cold thing is really strange? Wonder what is up with that?
Update on this drink….I now cut ALL the rine off of the grapefruit and it takes away the bitter taste! ~
PAULA!!!!!!! You’re linking up, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!! (((BIG HUG)))) I have heard of this water but I didn’t know if it was for real or just talk… I’ll have to try it… heaven knows I need to lose weight… I am just so proud of you linking up for the ALL STARS BLOCK PARTY…. looking forward to you sharing some great photo’s too sometime in the future!!!!
XOXO,
Carri
I am still working on “grabbing the button?”. Tried tonite…didn’t get it…but I will! 😉 If you make the water….cut all rine off of the grapefruit…no bitter taste that way. It is pretty tasty! But I need to do better… Your party is AWESOME! CONGRATS and THANKS! 😉
Thanks I think I will try this. It sounds refreshing instead of just water.
I think it’s delicious. I’ve learned thru making it many times now, to cut the grapefruit skin OFF so that it is not bitter when it sets. Thanks for coming by! 😉 paula
Thank you.
Paula,
I love that you did this and posted a recipe and what each ingredient does. I would love it if you would post this link on my Wednesday Adorned From Above Blog Hop. The link follows.

Debi ~ so sorry….you were lost in my spam box…but I fixed that! Thanks so much…I added it to your blog hop! Fun stuff! paula ♥
Sounds refreshing! Thanks for linking up to the All Star Block Party!
It is really good! Thanks for the visit! 😉
Every time I watch Dr OZ, I think I have everthing he is talking about. All the symptoms call out to me. It’s scary stuff.
Ha! You & my son! But you are right. Those episodes of “Every test a woman should have her doctor do”, etc….can get that mind a going! But as for the water….it really is good! 😉
Sounds fantastic! Going to veggie vender tomorrow and will pick up ingredients! Thank you!! And thank you for following my blog, too. That was very sweet. 🙂
I am new to this blog thing and am loving the discovery of all the fun bloggers on wp! Thanks for stopping by! Also…when you make this drink, if you will leave all skin OFF of the grapefruit, there will be no bitterness. Something I discovered, later. 😉
cool! Thanks for the tip.
😉 lmk what you think!
I’m glad I read this older post. I love this recipe, I’m gonna try it. Did you?
Yes and it really does make you feel full and is GOOD. I would just stress to NOT put the grapefruit peel in as there seems to be a bitter taste that comes from it.
Good to know. I’ll leave it out.
I loooove “spa” waters! Happy to see somebody shares my enthusiasm! Have you ever tried it with cucumber solo? Divine! I don’t know who figured out that cukes and water compliment each other but–wow!
I have not tried that…but will now! Thanks for the tip! 🙂 paula ♥
Thanks for the follow, by the way!
Glad to find you!!!
well I just bought all of the ingredients but forgot the peppermint leaves. Is this something I really need??
I think it would be just as good without it! You can try it with that another time.
