52 Reasons ~ Revisited

This is a “refurbished” post from last year that has had many visits.  As we near Valentine’s Day, I thought this might be a good time to share it again.  If you are looking for a unique and personal idea for your loved one…..here ya go.  It takes a little “heart” time….but as you read on, you’ll see it is good therapy.

A while back I stumbled across a cute idea on WWW.PINTEREST.COM and made a mental note, “I am going to do this for my hubby.”  I bought a deck of cards and jumped on my computer to make my list of52 Random Reminders of Why I Love You”.  (Am I the only one who thinks this resembles a ransom note?) When I began thinking about it, I was a little slow, honestly.  But after about reminder number ten, I became lost in my list and was having to do trade-outs to keep the number at 52!  I still keep thinking of things I missed at the time and know I could easily fill a few more decks of cards.

I began doing this project FOR my hubby.  But somewhere in the searching for the right words in my head, my heart took over and it became therapeutic.   This was not just to tell him, it was to tell me. There are so many reasons and reminders of why I still love him. Thirty-plus years worth.

So here is your challenge.  Sit down at your computer, or with pen and paper. Start that list of 52 reasons for your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, sibling, child, parent, grandparent, etc.  When you are finished, I guarantee you will think of your person a little differently.  You don’t have to put it on a deck of cards like I did. (BUT IT’S FUN & COOL!)  But surprise them with the list ~

This doesn’t have to be just for Valentine’s Day! Who wouldn’t love this surprise reminder any day of the year?

A special shout-out to my favorite sister-in-law and dear friend, Mary! It’s her birthday today! And she will eat chocolate. 😉 Happy Birthday, Mary ♥ Love you ~

    What a fantastic idea!

  4. This is creative, fun and very special. Thanks for sharing your version of this. I’m going to keep it on my list of things to for someone I care about. It does not have many equals as a gift from the heart.

Now how do I get this post to my wife without making it obvious on what I would like.???

    My most favorite gift ever!!!

What a thoughtful idea. I noticed in town that there are places with custom playing cards. I have bought a few sets from an artist in Las Vegas – I wonder if they could do a single set?

  9. This is great! If more people did things like this, divorce attorneys would be out of business. 🙂

  10. My girlfriend and I are together 2 years next week so I made a poster with 24 reasons (1 for every month) why I love her. I thought it would take ages to think them up, it took about 15 minutes and I had loads more!

  11. Ah… I just read Marvin’s response, ‘best gift ever’. You guys are lucky!

  12. This is a beautiful idea, love this! Thank you for sharing it!
(Good that I’ll be at the creative store, tomorrow…)

Two years ago I made a scroll for the special birthday of a good friend listing 100 things what I appreciate about this person. In the beginning I found it hard to fill the spots and in the end I had the same problem of having to do trade-outs that you are describing above.
And I agree, it IS a two way ticket to create such a list. 🙂

  13. Great idea! I’ll have to try it
