Our last couple of days in the Ozarks were spent exploring. No matter how many times you visit the area, there is always more to discover. We stayed at a quaint and adorable tree house resort. We both agreed that we didn’t want to deal with ghosts at the Crescent Hotel this time around. That didn’t keep us from paying it a visit in the evening though. It is always intriguing.
Before leaving the next day, a local gave us directions to Beaver Bridge. A single lane bridge ( 11 feet wide and 554 feet long) built in 1949 that crosses the White River. It is the last standing suspension bridge in Arkansas. Bridges make me really nervous, but we lived on the edge and crossed it twice. I was thinking of The Bridge of San Luis Rey the entire time! 🙂
There were a few more stops along the way…..but I’ll spare you. Time away and time together are something hubby and I fight for because of his career. So by drawing out my posts….well….you understand. Perhaps the writer of this song (Bob Dylan?) lived in the mountains, because when you are simply visiting…..time passes by quickly…
Time passes slowly up here in the mountain
We sit beside the bridges and walk beside the fountains
Catch the wild fishes that float though the stream
Time passes slowly when you’re lost in a dream.
Wishing each of you a wonderful week.
Thank you for the fun post, Patti. Those tree house units look great, and I love old bridges.
Russ
Really special pics! Thanks for sharing them.
Appreciate you ♥
Those tree houses are as cute as can be. Are they like one-bedroom apartments where you can cook? I would have to agree that crossing a one lane, wooden bridge IS living on the edge.
Yes…One big room with a front and back deck. And a tiny little kitchen. We will stay there again, for sure.
As for that bridge….so neat….but weird having to hurry across hoping the car wanting to cross on the other end will wait!
I love that second picture with the reflection of the trees!! And I love bridges, especially covered bridges. ❤
I loved waking up to the trees peaking in. When we lived in this area years ago….that was my favorite thing. I always felt like I was on vacation then. A real de-stresser!
Covered bridges are the coolest. You don’t see them around here…but when my sis lived in Michigan…..those and the round barns amazed me!
The bridge pictures are the best, but I think I did see a ghost in the window of the hotel. He was holding a bracelet, I think!! Thanks for sharing.
Ha! Now that I look at that again….I think you are right! I guess the ghost wins ~ 😦 So I wonder if ghosts tell people stories?
People stories–now that’s a good one. You should work that into a blog ’cause more people than me need to hear that one.
Will have to think about that one 🙂
Love this post… those houses on stilts look great… as for the bridge, love it…
The people that built the houses thought about every little detail….we were impressed. From the fireplaces to the heated towel rack (which I used to warm my clothes!) to fresh squeezed orange juice.
As for the old bridge….I am glad hubby insisted on taking that drive before we left the area. So cool.
Hold on there, sister. Where are those tree houses located? Because that’s my next vacation right there! I swear, I’m a 6-year old boy reincarnate. I could live in a treehouse. With wi-fi.
http://thetreehouses.com/ And yes on the Wi-Fi! There are others in the area as well from what I understand….some more remote than these. Book early. They are quite popular! 🙂
Thank you!
You are welcome!! Great place to visit!
Those tree houses are great, the bridge I am not so sure of, but I can see you are having a wonderful time.
We would certainly stay here again! I’m with you on that bridge. It’s older than me by far!
What a cool place!
It really is!
Those tree houses are amazing! I love covered bridges. We have quite a few around here, and Rich and I have hunted several of them down when we’ve been out on the motorcycle. As always, very nice pictures, Paula. 🙂
Covered bridges….lucky you! So glad you are back, Maddie! Looking forward to your new book release (es)! ♥
What a beautiful area, I love the tree houses !!
It is beautiful. And the tree houses were so cute!
We share that thing with bridges..did ya know that? Much better these days, but still…
Beautiful area for sure! Some day… 😀
When I was a kid I would get in the floor board of the car to cross a bridge. Like that was gonna help!!! 🙂
At least you couldn’t see!! That helps a lot!
Yep…..it’s true. That’s also why I never did so well in softball. Closed my eyes for the pitch!
