Gender Education

No. This is mom's glove.

No. This is mom’s glove.

Blessed with warmer weather this week, I took each of our dogs for a walk, one at a time.  My little neighbor friend joined me for a portion of dog walk number one.  And here is how the conversation flowed with this four-year old sweetie as we walked the cul-de-sac.

What’s the dog’s name?

Sugar.

Leaning down as we are walking….she pops up and says, “She’s a girl!”

 Yes she is.

Know how I can tell she’s a girl?

Hesitating now…. no???

I looked under her and saw.

Oh.  (no way was I going to prompt this)

I looked under her neck and she has a pink heart.  So that means she is a girl.

Yes ma’am!  You are so right!  nervous giggle  WHEW

Happy Weekend Friends!

And Be nice to people.  You never know what they may be dealing with in their lives. ♥

LOL! Love it. The illustrator for my children’s books said the only thing one needs to do when creating differentiating gender in animals or make-believe creatures is make the eyelashes on the females longer. Everything else can look identical. He was right. Even very young readers could instantly identify female from male characters.
