A Few MORE of My Favorite Things ~

I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things with you today!  Please feel free to post YOUR favorite things in the comment area!

Totally worth the almost $5.00 a jar.  If you like olives AND hot…I will be your best friend once you try these ~ yep…they are THAT good!

The Vitamin E stick is about $1.50 a tube.  You’ll want more than one, though.  I use it on my lips, around my eyes, and on my cuticles. So conditioning! LOVE!

This is American Beauty Concealer (fair) from Kohl’s.  I don’t recall what I paid for this, but it was reasonable, plus I had a 30% off coupon.  I used to buy an expensive brand, but tried this and love it.  It covers well and lasts a very long time. (which is why I cannot recall the price.  I’ve had this about a year)

See how much has been used?  And I’ve had this almost a year!  I especially use it in the summertime.  It is great for underneath makeup because it is light and absorbs quickly.  NOTE:  This is the GEL.  There is also a LOTION.  My skin has a tendency towards being oily so I must have the GEL.  I think it’s twenty-something dollars.  It lasts a LONG time, plus I purchase when there is a giveaway so that I have their new products to try!

I don’t tan.  I couldn’t even if I wanted to.  My freckles would just mass together.  But I do like to take the white glare from my legs.  This does that for me in just a couple of applications.  It’s around $8.00.

I am a germophobic.  There. It’s said. I carry these Bath and Body Works antibacterials in my purse, car, hubby’s truck and pocket.  The normal price is about a buck a piece, but when you hit the semi-annual sale (May and December) you’ll get them really cheap.  The MENTHA LIP TINT is a refreshing gloss for your lips.  It is always in my pocket, too.  It’s minty, glossy, conditioning AND even freshens your breath.  It’s about $7.50, but I always have a coupon or catch it on sale.  Yep….I am cheap, I mean frugal!

I am very picky about my hairspray.  I have always purchased Salon Brands, until now.  Last year, before a vacation, I picked up a small sample can of the above.  I ended up loving it!  It’s a huge can for only around $6.00!  YaY!

Please tell us about YOUR favorites in the comment area below.  And in case I haven’t told you lately, thanks so much for reading and for commenting on my posts.  It means more than you can ever know! ♥

Speaking of which….I happen to have an extra Bath and Body Works Mentha Lip Tint to share.  Comment on this post before midnight tonight and you are in for the drawing~ Have a GREAT DAY!

I like cover girl lip slicks lip stick, special k chocolate cereal, vibram five fingers shoes, pinterest and Starbucks iced vanilla latte with caramel drizzle.

  2. One of my favorite things is Bio Oil. I get it at Walgreens for around $17-20, depending if it is on sale. There is an off brand, but this one works so well that I haven’t tried it. Don’t let the name fool you. Although it is an oil, it absorbs into your skin quickly and without residue. I use it liberally on my face and neck and eye area, and I never breakout or have oily skin. I also use it all over my body to preserve my old skin! It is great! I even work it around my cuticles and put it on my lips, especially after a shower.
Another of my favorite things is not new, but an old and very cheap household standard – vinegar. It works great by itself or mixed with other products like a little dawn or peroxide. My favorite use for it has been as a weed killer. I have a paver sidewalk that gets overrun with weeds in the spring. I used to use toxic weed killers, but this year I tried vinegar. It worked great! Unlike a commercial weed killer, you may have to reapply to kill the weed all the way to the roots, but at least you don’t have to wear a hazmat suit!

    • Two GREAT tips. I have seen bio-oil, but never tried it. You are the 2nd person (the other Darla suggested it, too) to recommend vinegar for killing weeds. I am going to try this! Thanks a bunch!

  3. I didn’t know that Clinlque had that in a gel. I love the lotion but now I want to try the gel (I tend to be oily too). Thanks for the tip. I LOVE the Clinique counter 🙂

Some of my favorite things are Philosophy’s Amazing Grace shower gel, memory foam slippers and Miche handbags (interchangeable outer covers).

P.S. I love posts like this!

    • For my skin, there is a huge difference in gel vs. lotion! Miche bags are so cool! We bought one for my mom and it’s so much fun buying new covers!
Thanks for sharing your fav’s! I love trying new stuff!

  4. Thanks so much for all these great tips. I have very dry (very wrinkled) skin…also those awful old brown age spots and I have paid big bucks for creams that are supposed to lighten those spots. So far, nothing works. Do any of you younger gals (or your Mothers) have any creams to recommend? I love Garnier Moisture Rescue gel. It feel so cool, minty, and refreshing…especially in the summertime.

    • Delores ~ I tried Clinique’s “Even Better”…very costly and it didn’t help much. I just started using Citra-Peel by GoodSkin Labs. I bought it at Kohl’s, but I cannot tell you yet how well it works as I’ve only used it three times. I do like the way my skin feels after the neutalizer. I will keep you posted, though.

  5. I have awarded you the Versatile Blogger Award on my blog today…

  6. Thanks for your tips. I can see the jergens natural glow in my shopping cart on my next Wal-Mart trip. I am the freebies and coupon queen. I am on several sites for freebies. I try all the things I receive and if I don’t like them no problem I didn’t waste my money on them. I am also a member of a couple of sites that I earn points from that I use to get free gift cards. Nothing like free gift cards to give for a small gift. I have to admit my grandsons really enjoy them. I can share the site with people if they are interested. I also belong to one that I push my free points button daily and get points and yes more gift cards. I am on disability and as we all know they Social Security Disability is not the largest income, so I am happy to use all the freebies and discounts I can……

Kathy – I am very interested in the website information to earn points for free gift cards. They make great gifts for our grandkids as well; they love having their own “money”.

    • Kathy ~

Yes! Please share any and all info! Sounds great! We ALL want to save and earn! ♥

My all-time favorite hair gel WAS Redken’s #8 Contour; they have unfortunately discontinued this product so my hair stylist and I are in the process of looking for a replacement. Also, I’m a big fan of Philosophy’s Amazing Grace shower gel/shampoo. Love being able to use one product in the shower instead of something different for each chore. As usual Paula, another great post!

    • Well I am going to have to look in to this Philosophy shampoo/gel. And don’t you hate it when you have something you LOVE and then they quit making it! SO VERY frustrating! Good luck with the replacement and THANKS for reading, Christi! ♥

  8. rljaffe-I didn’t know Special K came in CHOCOLATE! I love special K, and I love Chocolate! How did I miss that one? And Darla, I’m with you…I use Vinegar for almost everything! From surface cleaning, to mopping, to carpet cleaner. But my favorite is as a replacement for fabric softener. I just pour it in the dispenser and it is fantastic! It doesn’t leave that residue that the commercial brands do on your clothes, it costs pennies, and No, it doesn’t leave a smell. If you experience static in your dryer with towels or such, all you have to do is throw in a ball of wadded up tin foil or woolies (balls of wool). Besides that I would have to say Bert’s Bees is also my favorite, Love it for dry chapped lips.

I LOVELOVELOVE those jalapeno stuffed olives. My fridge is never devoid of them. The first time I had one was at a restaurant in Austin, where they made a “Mexican Martini”–essentially a margarita, but with one of those stuffed olives in there…OMG, LOVE!

And if you’re a germaphobe, you should check out my friend Jo’s blog: http://bumbumgerms.blogspot.com. She’s OCD and a momma of two & just HILARIOUS.

    • I have the habanero stuffed olives in the frig, too. They offer no forgiveness and it takes wine to make the burning stop! But the jalapeno….I’m with you!

I will check out your friend’s blog! Thanks a bunch! 😉
