Fire and Rain in Oklahoma

Yesterday was a stressful day of devastating fires throughout our state.  Many homes and structures have been lost. Our firefighters are exhausted fighting this devil in the triple digit temps.  The winds were strong, the air thick like fog.  There was a smell of smoke as ashes fell from the sky.  Health warnings suggested staying inside.  The ash is dangerous to breathe.  And just as I was about to spread a little water on our trees last night, I was greeted with a pleasant surprise.  Thunder.  Lightning. Rain.  Unfortunately, for the areas burning, the shifting winds just stirred the fire to flames again.  Fires are still burning today. Please join Oklahoma and surrounding states in praying for rain and relief.   Thank you to our fire fighters and the many volunteers!

~ And yes, I DID say I was outta here for a few days….and now I am! 🙂

Matt and I visited some friends near Edmond yesterday and we could see a grassfire looming miles away while we all enjoyed each other’s company. It was a strange feeling. I’ve been in a wildfire before, years ago as a kid in Upper Michigan – watering the house down, mandatory evac, the whole bit…it’s quite terrifying. Stay safe 🙂
