I guess we can never know what song will be the song that reminds us of a person when they leave this life. Not until they are gone, that is. In these past few weeks I’ve learned that you don’t choose their song….it just comes to you. Over and over until your tears finally turn to smiles when you hear it play.
And that’s where I am. My heart hurts for the loss of my sweet friend and dear neighbor, Michelle. She left us too young, something I will never understand. But she also left us with her tender heart, her fighting spirit, her beautiful daughters, and somehow….with hope.
Oh. And then there’s her song. ♥ I miss you, Michelle. Every day.
When I got the news today
I didn’t know what to say.
So I just hung up the phone.
I took a walk to clear my head,
This is where the walking led
Can’t believe you’re really gone
Don’t feel like going home
So I’m gonna set right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer
Funny how the good ones go
Too soon, but the good Lord knows
The reasons why, I guess
Sometimes the greater plan
Is kinda hard to understand
Right now it don’t make sense
I can’t make it all make sense
So I’m gonna set right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer
So long my friend
Until we meet again
I’ll remember you
And all the times that we used to…
… set right here on the edge of this pier
And watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer.

Nice song to remember a friend by.
Perfect for our Michelle ♥
That hollowness that tells you just how much they filled you up, because the void they left, is just that huge, Sweet agony.
No truer words. Thank you for this. paula ♥

Sorry for your loss! Such a beautiful song and remembrance!
Thanks so much….a very special song ♥
Hugs and prayers for you!
I was pregnant with a boy before my daughter was even a twinkle her in father’s eye. At 31 weeks he stopped moving and an ultrasound confirmed that he had passed. As my friend drove me to the hospital Eric Clapton’s Tears in Heaven came on the radio. That was my song for Jesse. It took years before I could hear it without crying. You’re right though, the song was and is a comfort. I’m sorry for the loss of your neighbour and friend. ❤

Music offers such gifts of healing. I don’t understand it, but certainly embrace it. Thank you, Diana, for sharing your story. I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs ♥ paula
A few years back I lost a very close friend to cancer who was far too young, and it still hurts to this day. However, the happy memories help heal the heart, so focus on them as much as you can.
Thanks for that reminder….it is exactly what we are trying to do. I am sorry for the loss of your friend. Life’s just not fair sometimes. ♥
Thank you and take care.

Too many goodbyes at this stage in our lives….friends, family, anyone we’ve loved. The good thing is the memories live on in us:) So very sorry for the loss of your dear friend.

I heard this song twice today, hence this post…. it’s like she’s talking to me from the heavens. And THAT does make me smile. 🙂 Thanks, Russ ♥
Lovely song, and I’m sorry for your loss, Paula.
Well it’s a country song….of course….and it just nails it. Thank you, Maddie. Have been meaning to e-mail you. Will do that SOON! hugs ♥
My mother loves this song. It touches something deep in her. When I was visiting two weeks ago, she put the video on for me to watch, and I know she was fighting back tears. It really is a pretty tune. Looking forward to hearing from you – whenever you have time.
♥
So sorry for your loss, Paula.
Appreciate you, Naomi ♥

This one sums it up, doesn’t it? Thank you ♥
Such songs are those that we sing when we were children, not knowing what it really meant. And when we grow older, we forget them, until it hits us again… I am sorry for your loss, I hope you and your friend’s family will stay strong.
Thanks so much ♥ paula
Sending lots of love and a hug. 🙂
