What You Can Get For A Dollar

fall vacation tower sign

We pulled into Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and I saw the fire tower….again. The weather was perfect outside and it was calling to us…. climb me. Okay….maybe it was only talking to me. But it was only a dollar!  And once I asked hubby if he’d rather climb the tower or zip-line….he reluctantly agreed to climb the tower.  I assured him we could always turn around and come back down if it was too much.  There was no way I was not going to the top ~

A view of the haunting Crescent Hotel.  We stayed here on our honeymoon 31 years ago.  Just a couple of years ago we took their ghost tour.  My bracelet disappeared and was never found.  Coincidence???

With the breeze and the clouds and sun playing peek-a-boo, I ‘d say it was a dollar well spent, wouldn’t you? What a view. Next trip…..I’m climbing the one on the other end of town!

Happy Day ♥ Be Nice To People

p.s.  I am a big chicken.  I’m afraid of heights and bugs and creaky noises.  All of which occurred on this little hike up and down.  Who knew yellow jackets would want to go that high?  Hubby was concerned I’d get up there and he’d have to carry me down.  🙂  But he didn’t.  Thanks for the escort, my dear….♥

You’ve Been Boo-ed!

Like many of us, autumn is a favorite season for me. The morning and evening air is cool and crisp.  Hubby is certain the stars sparkle a bit brighter at night.  Each time I put the lawn mower away, I can’t help but wonder if perhaps we will be parting ways until spring? All and all….the season makes me feel better. So while I am not really into the scary stuff, I do enjoy sending out a little sweet surprise.

At our local dollar store, I gathered a few goodies.

Then I went to www.beenbooed.com to choose a “boo” print-out. This is one time you can boo someone and they’ll like it! 🙂

You must be careful not to get caught leaving your goody on a front porch, co-worker’s desk, or door! barking dogs are not helpful!
This is fun….try it….be creative. And thanks to my sister, for sharing this tradition with me a few years ago.   Guaranteed to produce a smile. 🙂  BOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hope your day RoCkS! Pay it Forward… ♥

Look Who I Found in the Ozarks!

fall vacation lorri

When you enter the Ozarks, there’s a reason they tell you to BUCKLE UP. The roads wind and curve in every direction. Perfect for pretending you are a race car driver. Not so perfect if you get motion sickness or are afraid of heights…

fall vacation lorri sharp turn There are many wonderful thinkers, photographers and writers in this blog world.  Last year when I became acquainted with The Eff Stop’s photography, it didn’t take more than a second to recognize that Lorri’s talent was much deeper than her fabulous eye.  Her humor, story telling and love of animals brought a heart-felt connect.  I just kinda figured we would meet in person one day.  Last week on our extended road trip…..Hubby and I were blessed that our road connected with Lorri.  And while we could have been ax murderers, for all she knew, she was brave enough to have lunch with us….and then meet again later!

Such a pleasure to meet Lorri in person. There are so many friends out there we’ve yet to know.  So many treasures just waiting.  Just follow the road before you…..or maybe even take a little detour…

Have a great week and be nice to people! ♥  www.theeffstop.com

On a journey with no destination, you just go where the wind blows you. Or in Arkansas, you go where the next curve takes you. We were headed to find the elk as suggested by a friend, when hubby saw a ferry noted on the map.  Hubby ~ I’ve never crossed on a ferry before. Me ~ Where will it take us?  Hubby ~ I don’t know.  We will cross Bull Shoals Lake into Missouri.  Me ~  Okay, let’s go.  So we did.  The end.  But not really…

A few favorite shots of our 724 mile journey. We spotted the deer as we wandered through Devil’s Den State Park in Arkansas.  Hubby was the driver and I stood in the seat shooting through the sunroof.  Don’t tell my mom. (More to come later….but not to worry!  I won’t post all 347 shots 🙂 )

Hope your week has been a good one! Be nice to people ♥

Fall

track6

It is officially FALL! YAY! My favorite season. The morning and evening temps are just beginning to chill a bit, football season is on and strong, candy corn has filled the shelves in the stores, and the crickets are thick….All of the signs of the start of this season and more.

Wishing you a blessed week. I am off for an extended Sunday drive, and hopefully some new adventures, so we will visit again soon.

Be nice to people. You just never know what they may be dealing with today. ♥

Happy Fall Ya’ll ♥ ~ paula

AT&T and Pumpkin Bread

We’ve been unplugged for a couple of days.  A lightning strike next door sent rumbles through the lines of the neighborhood it seems.  Our little cul-de-sac was filled with repair people all day yesterday.  Ours was here for around four hours.  I guess he really liked us!?att

Last night, while we still had several AT&T folks in our hood…..it became a little block party, as it so often does.  Cool weather, kids playing, neighbors catching up…..all under the umbrella of a beautiful sunset.att sunset nite

Since fall is upon us, a sweet friend and follower gave me permission to share her mom’s fabulous recipe for Pumpkin Bread If you do share this…..be sure and remind them it’s a secret. 🙂

Hand written recipes are forever treasures.  Thank you, Darla A ♥att darla's recipe

What does a lightning strike and pumpkin bread have to do with each other, you might ask?  Absolutely nothing.  But since it’s my blog, I can mix it up! 🙂

Thanks to Charles at AT&T for staying with us til the job was done.  Happy Saturday, friends ♥  Be nice to people!

The 13th

Last Night's Moon

Last Night’s Moon

Flipping through Facebook statuses this morning….I have seen a LOT of mention of Friday the 13th.

I recall when I was younger, being in the car with my big sister and our Grandma S.  We were driving through her Oklahoma City neighborhood….suddenly she said “Stop!  You have to turn the car around.”  That’s when I learned you are not to cross the path of a black cat.  Even though Grandma was a God-fearing, Bible reading, Southern Baptist woman, there were a few things she held on to.  And of course we turned around!

Since that day I know I have crossed the path of evil many times without turning around. I intentionally do not throw salt over my shoulder for good luck as I know who would have to clean it up.  Many umbrellas have been opened on the inside of buildings and cars at my hand…why, I have even walked beneath ladders and lived to tell.  I never treasured a rabbit’s foot and any piece of luck I attempted to carry, I lost.

But one thing I do attempt each morning?  I thank the Lord for another day.  I ask Him to protect and bless my family and friends that would mean YOU, and I wonder how He can use me for the better good….

Happy Friday, September 13th, friends.  I am gonna venture out.  Don’t tell Grandma S ~
